It's a wonderful thing to praise God for helping those who are too weak to do it on their own whether they were on drugs or worse. If they had a drinking problem, I had a gambling problem until God cured me of a 12 year addiction to casino gambling. But when it comes to praises not many publicly praise God for writing His Ten Commandments because if he didn't do that the world would be in a total chaos too many laws would have be broken in that time before they were written by God.
